Continuing education

Archivists at the NRO lead a two-year course which directs part-time study of English Local History. The course is offered through the University of East Anglia's Centre for Continuing Education. It provides an excellent opportunity for people to study themes and sources pertinent to English Local History and is ideal for those who wish to find out more about their own locality. It consists of two units: the first covering the period circa 1066-1550 and the second the period circa 1550-2000. Both units explore documentary and other evidence which sheds light on both urban and rural communities. This course is on Wednesday evenings.

A ten week course on oral history is also held at the NRO. The course, run by the Archivist responsible for managing sound archives at the Norfolk Record Office, provides information on carrying out oral history interviews including getting the right equipment, permission forms, interviewing techniques and the role of oral history interviews, as a historical resource. The course runs on Wednesday mornings and can be booked through the UEA. For more information on the Norfolk Record Office's Sound Archive click here.
