Shipping registers, 1825-1956 (P/SH)
The Shipping Act of 1786 introduced general statutory registration of British ships over 15 tons with customs officials at their home ports.
Shipping registers from detail each vessel's name and home port, dimensions and ownership. No information is given of ships' movements or crews.
